Birthday Week Commences

Happy Weekend everyone!

I had all intentions of blogging yesterday but work took over and I ran out of time. I met Erin in the office at 5 b/c she was giving me a ride home to start the fun evening we had planned.

Originally, last night was to celebrate the fact that Erin had an interview for a new job, but it also ended up that I had a phone interview too! Crazy!

The plans for the evening were froyo for dinner and then seeing Sherlock Holmes. It was a smashing success and I remembered how much I missed my froyo. I was good and got the PB/ cake batter swirl with fruit and mochi on top.

After the movie, I went home and made a giant cup of tea that I was craving and read some more of 'Catching Fire'.

Backing up a little, I had a Good2Go bar for breakfast, 2 pieces of veggie pizza at lunch and 2 after my interview b/c I was losing my mind, and my greek yogurt as far as eats go. I had the froyo for dinner and a small popcorn with ranch and white chedder flavor sprinkled on it.

This morning, I battled the post office and mailed my package back to Bravissimo for an exchange. One bra was too small around (I couldn't get it to hook) and the other one made me feel claustrophobic from the cleavage! Not a good thing. So, I'm exchanging those two for a new nude tshirt bra, which is my favorite and I can wear with pretty much anything. I also mailed a job application. Woo!

I came to school and had a meeting with my Boss. We were supposed to talk about what I need to do to graduate but instead we talked about my "interview" and what I need to brush up on/ learn for the next one. It's all pretty exciting/ scary/ overwhelming all at the same time. B/c of my meeting, I sadly had to miss my workout class this morning but will do some kind of an ab workout later instead.

Tomorrow officially starts my birthday week and I'm going for my long run (7miles) and then meeting up with Erin to get our nails done! I'm going with the shellac again b/c it lasts so long! I just love it! This will probably be the last time I get my fingers done since my sister bought me a UV nail dryer so I can do my own shellac nails. I just have to buy the stuff to do it all.

After tomorrow, nothing is happening until my actual birthday on Wednesday and I'm having a party at the froyo place and getting a froyo pie!!! Thursday is birthday Steak Night and Saturday is awesome, meet the band, rock your face off with Theory of a Deadman Night!!! SOOOO Excited.

I may be turning 28 but this is going to be an awesome week and I think I'm past the idea of getting older get me down. I have so much fun stuff to do and a whole life in front of me to live!

Have you ever had a super fun birthday week? Or do you just celebrate on one day?
I pretty much lucked out with the concert and Steak Night is always on a Thursday, so it's a week event this year!

3 Things Thursday

I didn't post yesterday because I had group meeting at 5 and am getting bored of looking at my own pictures of the same foods I've been eating. But I'm not actually tired of eating them. :)

1. I've been working on plotting and making sense of my data from experiments I ran last week. There are some promising results which are good but also means more experiments. I also feel like my face is going to melt off from being glued to the computer all day. I don't know how anyone can do it. I took a couple breaks but sheesh!

2. I went to the dentist this morning and no new cavities! Yay! They gave me a super awesome goodie bag with tooth paste, tooth brush, mouthwash, 2 kinds of floss, gum and lip stuff. It was all in this pencil pouch looking plastic container and was very cute! I was amused.

3. Refer back to #1 and my melting face... I'm going to the gym tonight for a "tempo" (can you hear me laughing) run. If you know me, you know I only have one pace and that is slow. So, a tempo run for me isn't exactly a tempo run for most anyone else. I'm hoping for about 4 miles and then do my abs class and go home. I had a rough time not eating after 9 on Tuesday b/c I didn't get home from the gym til after 9 but had my dinner already. Can we say 'Hello tea!!!!'? That solved my problems and tasted delicious.

Now for what you've been waiting for... the boring pictures of my food. I have not been taking pictures of my breakfast sammy b/c they are the same and I'm bored with them, but know I'm still eating them.

Can you see the Theory on my calendar?! :)

Ok. Now that I've bored you to tears with my food from the past few days, I hope you have a great night.

Anything good on tv tonight? If not, it looks like Katniss and I are going to get friendly. (She's the main character in the Hunger Games books. ;) )

Survived the PT

Last night, I went to Physical Therapy and I didn't die and they didn't turn me into a pretzel, so I thought it was all good!

I got there a little early after taking the bus home and had a massive amount of paperwork to fill out. I went back to the room and met my PT, Brandon, and we talked about my leg cramping issues. He did some range of motion and strength tests on me and then had me get on the treadmill for 10 min so I could get nice and crampy. We went back to the room and he put some kind of goo on my legs and rubbed on the hurting area with what looked like a metal tongue depressor. I guess this was to work out the soft tissue? He then gave me some sheets with exercises/ stretches on them. I need to strengthen my outter hips and stretch my ankle area. I will be seeing him again for the next 4 Mondays to see how I progress.

I walked up the hill b/c the PT place is practically at the bottom of my driveway and was pooped. I had some chicken noodle soup for dinner, did my exercises/ stretches and watched The Bachelor and Hoarders at the same time. Both were equally as jaw dropping shows, just different kinds of drama. I think I feel underwhelmed with this season of The Bachelor but that could be because I cheated and read the spoiler and knows who won. I don't think I'll be doing that again. And it could be the fact that Ben isn't as hunky as most of the past Bachelors.

Here's my food from the past day:

chicken noodle soup for dinner

night snack to get in my fruit/ veggies

breakfast... see that pepperjack?

lunch + greek yogurt

snack + an apple... I ate it before I remembered to take a picture

Tonight, I have a Track officiating meeting and they are feeding me pizza, so dinner is taken care of. I also have my first abs class tonight and plan on getting a speed workout in. I'm sad b/c I'm now going to miss the first hour of BL, but most of the business happens in the second hour.

Are you ready for BL tonight?! Feel free to fb or twitter updates to me of the first hour if you'd like. :)

Almost hit an 8 pt buck!

Happy Monday everyone! (groan)

Friday night was pretty boring with the usual Dateline and chilling on the couch after I had done a very slow 3 miles with Jessie after work. I came home and ate the leftover tuna salad on toast and then Muenster cheese on rice cakes for a snack while I cried through Extreme Makeover: Home Edition! I ended up reading some 'Catching Fire' before I went to bed.

Saturday morning, I got up and showered b/c I was going to Spokane with Erin today. She needed the mp3 cord in her car fixed so we can listen to tunes in the concert-mobile. We dropped of her car and her parentals picked us up and we went to watch her little cousin play AAU basketball and then went to Red Robin for lunch. I had the California Chicken burger with sweet potato fries. I forgot to take a picture of my meal but here are the leftovers and you can double it.

After lunch, we got the car and went shopping since we were in Spokane. We went to the mall and stopped at my newest obsession The Body Shop and I got $10 off b/c it's my birthday month!!

After we left the mall, Erin was looking for something to repair her snowboarding boot, so we went to the General Store and I scored these bad boys for $15!!!! I'll let you know how I like them.

We left Spokane and had our tunes and were chatting away. We were almost home when there was a big freaking deer just hanging out in the middle of the road. I yelled and Erin swerved and we survived! No crash, just kept going! But both of us were tramatized for the rest of the drive home. And then I had to pee real bad! Stupid fight or flight response. The rest of my night was uneventful. :)

Sunday, I woke up to go running with Jessie at 10. I was aiming for 8-10 but ended up only doing 6.2 b/c it was 38 degrees with a 17 mph headwind. It was COLD! And I had forgotten my gloves. :( I did my 10k in 1:29. I'll take it. As I was coming up to mile 1.5, Jess from blonde ponytail passed me with Cooper and then we ran/ chatted until mile 2. It was such a nice surprise!

She couldn't look at the tv while the Steelers were losing it either. I don't want to talk about it! HUMPH!

I also had my raspberry greek yogurt but I think you know what that looks like by now.

I'm off to PT. I hope they don't hurt me too much!

Thanks for your comments and suggestions.

What kinds of fun did you have this weekend?

Crampy Legs to the Doc

Happy Friday everyone!!

Last night I went on a run with Jessie, Running Buddy, around town and we did 5 miles. It was pretty miserable and crampy the whole time. I wore my compression socks during the run to see if that would help lessen the cramps, but in fact, I think they made them worse. Needless to say, I hobbled myself for 5 miles around town and was only 8 min slower than my 5 mile PR. I call that a not bad job!

I went home and made dinner. I had no clue of what to make but while talking to Mother (what I call my Dad's Mom) she gave me the idea of a tuna salad. I added chopped green onion, green bell pepper, hard boiled eggs, parmesean cheese and light miracle whip and ate it on toast. It was pretty good but you wouldn't want to be around me afterwards b/c those onions were pretty potent.

At 9:30, there was nothing on tv and I was cold from being sweaty after my run and I keep my house at a whopping 57 degrees, so I went to my bed and turned the heating blanket on and look who joined me.

She's being dainty by crossing all of her legs for you.
In bed, I read a few chapters of Catching Fire and went to bed at 11. I've been working on going to bed sooner, but it turns out that 11 is as early as I could swing it last night.

For breakfast, I tried a new flavor of the Good2Go bars. This is the peanut butter fruit and nut. Instead of the chocolate chips like the other bars, there were chunks of what seemed like dried fruit. Still very yummy.

Around 1:30 I was thirsty and brought this stuff to school, so I had a glass. It smells like chopped up grass but tastes like fruit and has 2 servings of fruit/veggie per 8oz.

After my green juice, I had made an appointment at Health & Wellness with the Sports Medicine Dr. (Hot Doc) that looks after the athletic teams on campus. I went to him about my cramping issue to see what he thought about it. My sister was diagnosed with Compartment Syndrome when playing volleyball in college and I didn't know if it was hereditary and I had it too.

After talking, him bending and stretching my legs and walking up and down the hall a few times, we sat down to talk. He said that my hips were weak and that I could use some more strength in my core (can't we all!) He said that we could look into the idea of Compartment Syndrome but that dealt with a lot of poking and prodding and wanted to try something else first. His suggestion was physical therapy. The funny thing is that my sister is now going to school for physical therapy! (Well I think it's a funny coincidence.)

I made an appointment for 4:30 on Monday and will keep you posted. I also learned at my appt. that the old Nutritionist left to continue her schooling but they had just hired a new one. I used to make semesterly visits to the Nutritionist to check in since I've been on my healthy journey and felt lost when I couldn't go in the fall. I made an appt to see her on Tuesday at 11am.

I'm going to Spokane with Erin tomorrow b/c she's getting her car stereo looked at and going to a cousin's basketball game. It will be nice to hang out with her and her family tomorrow. Sunday, Jessie and I are going on a long run. We did 3 tonight after work and my legs were tired and heavy from the run yesterday.

Here's to a rest day tomorrow and my free day for sweets from the Get Healthy Challenge!

What does your weekend look like?

Have you tried that green juice before?

Have you ever been to Physical Therapy and did it help?

Food Smash Up

Last night, I didn't go to the gym but did an abs workout while watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune on my living room floor. It felt kind of lame but it's better than sitting on the couch all night like a bum.

While I was working out, I had this little distraction "working out" on the floor next to me and couldn't help but take a video. Rabbit kicks anyone? Penny do you recognize that ball? Now 2 of my 3 kids have played with it!

After working out, I got fancy and did a food "smash up" (anyone watch Glee?) of leftovers of sorts. I made a sloppy joe salad with green olives! It was amazingly delicious! I also started 'Catching Fire' #2 of the Hunger Games series!

Last night, while I was playing around on the interwebs after group meeting, I had joined in on the FitFluential twitter chat and they were talking about chia seeds. I even got one of my tweets retweeted by FitFluential and some comments after!! How cool! But during the convo, someone posted a recipe for peach cobbler chia pudding and I had to try it! I made it last night and had it for a pre-lunch snack today. It ended up being more than a snack b/c it held me over from 10:30-1pm, when I was hungry enough to eat lunch.

Tonight, I'm going running with my Running Buddy and we are going for 4 miles around town. I feel like I need a good sweat session after last night's performance.

So far I've been good with my 'Get Healthy Challenge' and haven't eaten sweets yet and have earned full points so far. I was having troubles deciding when I should set my free day and my teammates chimed in that they were doing it on a weekend day and I think I will do the same.

How is your week going? Tomorrow is Friday!! I can hardly believe it!! WOO HOO!

New Class

Last night, I went to the gym with all intentions of running and then lifting some weights. I went to the counter to check out a lock and saw that there were some free classes being offered over break. Last night's class that was being offered from 5:45-6:45 was Gravity Pilates. It was 5:40, so I hustled my butt upstairs and joined in.

I wasn't sure what to expect because I've heard mixed opinions about Pilates in general. That it's easy, you don't get a good workout in, or it's not worth it. One of my favorite instructors was teaching the class, so I knew it had to be good.

It ended up being a full body workout. We focused on our breathing, did legs, arms and abs! And let me tell you, I am sore today!! I was pretty surprised! I would love to take a full class, but at $37 for 8 weeks, my 2 other classes beat the bang for the buck. I will totally take another one of these free classes. Hello Thursday!
After the gym, I came home and ate dinner.

Meat Stew

Half of these sprouts and a greek yogurt

For breakfast I had my usual egg sammy with tea.

Tonight, I'm going for my first "run with a buddy" and am going to wear these bad boys that Erin got me for Christmas.

I'll let you know how the run goes and I have a "21 random facts about me" post coming up soon.

Is there anything you want to know about me?

Have you ever tried Gravity Pilates? What did you think?
